That is a Wheeler bug that I have now fixed on my development version. It only appears on the recipe printout, not on the main screen. It did some inappropriate rounding up on the conversion from grammes to pounds - 8oz or greater got rounded up and added an extra pound to the pounds column. Whoops, sorry. The fix will show in the next release, which is imminent.garwatts wrote: Yes I did correct for the temp, but the problem was lack of liquidI didn't notice the conversions being wrong just copied the recipe from Mr GW and used the metrics

Two mistakes.
1) Posting a recipe from a new book.
2) Mixing up the quantities for crystal and sugar.

Re: Where am I Going Wrong
Not sure if this helps, but I have to do 3 batch sparges mostly now and this is how I do it:
1. Work out your pre-boil volume, say 33L.
2. Mash with 2.5L per kg grain adjusted to mash temp.
3. Completely fill the mash tun for the first sparge and completely drain it into a graduated vessel, collecting say 12L.
4. Do 2 more sparges of the remaining amount, 33L - 12L = 21L so it would be 2 sparges of 10.5L.
As the fricken annoying Meerkat would say, simples!
The only major calculation you need to do is the pre-boil volume. This works for me cos of the size of my mash tun (an average size cool box) and my pre-boil volume is nearly always the same cos I do mostly 60 min boils and just fill a corny.
Hope this helps and doesn't confuse you more.

Graham my apologies for disclosing one of your recipes and I shall try not to do it againGraham wrote:That is a Wheeler bug that I have now fixed on my development version.
