Is this normal? Pic included

I brewed this bad boy up on Fri night and had a wee look in today. Looks like popcorn floating on top!

Is it just chunks of yeast? Hopefully!

Cheers

I am a noob, but if it doesn't smell like vinegar you are ok from what I have heard.

I have also seen ferementing beer to look like that. When I had a load of trub in a mini mash it looked like that pretty much.

Looks like yeast and possibly break material to me - should be fine.

All my AGs have looked like this so far...(only done 4 mind [-o< ) and have used SO4 each time with a Protafloc tablet.

To add to what Chris has said, I have noticed it occurs when I do not allow a full 15 minutes of boil time after the tablet has dissolved.
I would guess it must be something to do with the fact that the agar/carageenan or whatever it is is not fully utilised and some "free" agar/carageenan which has not bound trub carries over into the FV - resulting in super floculation of the yeast during fermentation.

You should find there are no ill effects and you will get a nice bright beer.

Cheers
