10 gall boil into 2x5 gall FV for 2 types of ale?

Post by escapizm » Thu Jun 04, 2009 9:41 am

Just thinking ahead I may do a 10 gallon brew in the futire as I hope to get a 10 gal boiler (when H&G can find alternative supplier albeit brew UK can do one for about £25 delivered), my mash tun is huge so no probs there.

In order that I’m not drinking 80 bottles of same ale I was thinking when I split into two 5 gallon FV having a tweak.

If I was to make Bitter and Twisted clone of reapers with Safale S04 (is this a fruity yeast?) what yeast could I put in the other FV to get a different taste, maybe some dry hopping too?

Any tips

No tips, but I'd be curious to see the results of just using a different yeasts alone in the two FVs.

You definitely would get a different yeast profile. I think that's what I'll do when i come to do 10 gallon batches.
Only one way to find out!

You could try us-05 which accenuates hop flavour.
