Bruheat hop strainer used for mash

Post by spencerwood » Sat Jun 13, 2009 3:08 pm

Hi,

I understand that the hop strainer is to be used after the boil to filter out the hops. However, can it also be used in the bottom of the Bruheat boiler to filter the grain on the first run off and also to continue filtering during the sparging process? In which case, it could just be left installed in the boiler all the time.

Thanks

Spencer

Hi,

I tried that one many moons ago.

It was a disaster!

It will tend to come loose during the doughing in stage of the mash.

And it clogs up pretty fast.

Try it out if You like, but honestly, save Yourself the hassle!
