Increased mash efficiency with Barley Bottom malt??

Post by jubby » Thu Jun 18, 2009 2:44 pm

I used some Maris Otter from Barley Bottom for the first time yesterday and my mash efficiency went from my usual 82% to 93% Has anyone else experienced this?

I did not change my procedure in any way, all of my temperatures were spot on and if anything i fly sparged a little faster than usual, 35 mins, collecting 34 litres, stopping at 1.010.

Cooldad has also noticed this as he brought the grain and we split it. Anyone else noticed it?
