Think I have my first bad batch!

Bloody typical its my JBK anniversary brew too. After 4 days in the bottle it definitely has a vingeray aftertaste. :(

As I've used the same FV (I did clean it out and sterlise it) for the my most recent batch am I also at risk of infecting my new brew?

I also pitched yeast slurry from the JBK brew for my most recent as well. I've had a taste out the FV and cant detect the vinegar tang (after 3 days fermenting)

Not sure how likely this new batch will be OK. Using the yeast slurry from the dodgy batch must surely jeopardise the new one?

It depends at what point the brew became contaminated; it could be the bottles which were a problem, in which case the FV and yeast slurry would be fine. Have you tried any other bottles or just the one? And how come you've already cracked one open after 4 days anyway?! I thought I was impatient!

I've tried a few bottles! I always use 1 plastic bottle so I can see how carbonation is going. After a few days I usually crack it open once I'm happy its not over carbonated. This one tasted off so I tried 2 others.

Won't give up on it just yet. It certainly has a taste I've not witnessed before!

I have a very similar problem with my 2nd AG.

I cant tell if it is Diacetyl or TCP that is in the aftertaste, or if it is just green!

Best to look under a microscope I think

If in doubt the beer will be left for the 'last beers of the night' when a) I dont care what I drink and b) I wont be able to taste the faults anyway.
