Youngs Kew Gold

Post by dopejack » Sun Nov 01, 2009 10:56 pm

Hi
Does anyone know if the yeast from a bottle of Young Kew Gold can be cultured up, and if so, is it worth it? And what sort of ales, other than YKG it would be good for?
Cheers

I tried culturing the yeast from said beer a coupla weeks ago - and failed! Ain't saying it can't be done,it was a first attempt and all I had to guide me was common sense. Too common, apparently! Don't know why it failed tbh,a fair bit of yeast was visible in the bottle of KG. Sorry can't help,I'm sure someone will be along soon who can - perhaps I'll give it another go if someone else has successfully used KG yeast.

Cheers capped, think I'll just give it a go. Not ready to get another brew on for a while though, so I'll see if this bottle sits in the fridge long enough! I'll let you know if I have any luck when I do it.
