Whats the general concensus on sticking the beginning hops in the boiler even before you have started filling it and before it is switched on?
Is it an issue of a little more bitterness or does it not count because the wort isnt boiling?

Seeing as it's going to be boiling rapidly for 60-90 minutes, i can't see how 10 minutes at a lower temperature is going to make any difference at all.

First Wort Hopping is quite a contentious issue, theres a few different opinions on it, i'm in the 'it doesn't make a difference' camp. I've heard claims like improved hop flavour and smoother bitterness.

Is there any theoretical disadvantage to doing it?
