tuborg green - hops
tuborg green - hops
I like this beer very much. It has a very pleasant hop aroma and flavour. I'd like to know how to make a similar beer and what hops do they use to make it as it is?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: tuborg green - hops
Tuborg pilsner from Dave Lines book uses Hallertau hops. Not sure if that's the same as Tuborg green and even if it was, the recipe has probably been changed since then. So........I'm not helping much really am i

Re: tuborg green - hops
Am I getting mixed up here? I thought Tuborg was basically Carlsberg with different branding. Last time I had it, I'm sure it had almost no hop flavour at all.

I tried "tuborg green" and it had a very specific hop aroma and a bit of flavourChunk1234 wrote:Am I getting mixed up here? I thought Tuborg was basically Carlsberg with different branding. Last time I had it, I'm sure it had almost no hop flavour at all.

Re: tuborg green - hops
tuborg green is a very wierd beer - its almost like its made with a very very low quantity of a high alpha hop
Re: tuborg green - hops
what would be the grain bill in it? it is pilsner I guess, but what else?Mitchamitri wrote:tuborg green is a very wierd beer - its almost like its made with a very very low quantity of a high alpha hop
Re: tuborg green - hops
some sort of wheat malt - its dry enough - flaked maize has a "delicate corn flavour" according to barley bum
Re: tuborg green - hops
I think you're mistaking hop aroma for light strike (skunking). My mate brought round an 8 pack a few weeks ago and the first thing I got was that characteristic whiff you get from beers in green bottles. Added some character to what is a bland beer so I wasn't complaining. Obviously I keep these thoughts to myself and don't come out with them
Just make up a lager kit and put it in green bottles and leave them out in the daylight. If you're going all grain I would say 70% lager malt, 25% maize, 5% sugar, gravity about 1.040 - 45

Re: tuborg green - hops
I would find it hard to imagine it would be any kind of hop other than the usual 'lager suspects' - Hallertau, Saaz etc...
Re: tuborg green - hops
Hi!
Could it be one of the higher alpha US Hallertau hybrids maybe?

I think I know what you are reffering to with a 'distinct hop flavour' in Tuborg... But its nothing like the Green bullet in Steinlager (which incidently also comes in green bottles-light strike???)

Slainte!
