Quick question on my first ag brew

Post by Slaine » Thu Mar 11, 2010 11:13 am

Allo

Just about to transfer my london bitter from the fv to a pressure barrel, it's been in the primary fv for 6 days since i've been busy, fermentation stopped around 3 days ago.

I've just checked the sg and it's 1.009 is that ok?

Apart from being cloudy it seems fine.

sounds good to me, usually anything under 1010 is fine to bottle/keg

Phew, my last kit brew many moons ago turned to tcp so i was worried i'd buggered this up as well.

At what point do i add finings to clear the beer a bit?

Roll on payday and more ingredients :-)

Ok so it's a few quick questions :-)

The london bitter is now in my cheapy pressure barrel that i doubt is very pressurized.

What temp should this be roughly kept at? Do i need to use my heater mats to help keep it warm (kit is in the garage) like with the first fv.

Thanks in advance

George

once its kegged, keep it at the same temp as the FV was for about a week for secondary fermentation to take place, then cooler for 2-3 more weeks min for conditioning, then enjoy! :)

nice slaine pic btw.
I have a signed copy by the artist of the comic books he did back in the day of the slaine series.
maybe one day it could be worth something on antiques roadshow 2049 and pay off my kids mortgages!
