Protafloc query

Post by RichardG » Sat Jun 05, 2010 6:45 pm

So I went to my HBS this late this afternoon to get some protafloc tablets. Got home and opened up to find I'd got powder, not tablets! Now, I've never used this and have no idea what it's like to use. The instructions say I should use 1 - 4 gms, depending on the recipe, per hecto liter (what-ever that is). So can anyone advise me how I can work out how much to use?

Rehydrate a teaspoon of it per 25l boil, maybe a bit less if you work with it for a while and get to know it.

So treat it just like Irish moss then. Seems straight forward enough.

It's just chopped up seaweed, very similar to Irish moss.

Ahhh, I see; hence upto 4 grams (or teaspoons if you wil). Right, that all makes sense then.
