I have bought 2 100L stock pots which I want to turn into a HLT and a copper. I have the following questions...
1) Would 2 X 3KW elements be up to the job, using both to turbo heat the wort and then going down to one for a controlled rolling boil.
2) Would the wort be tainted by any burning on the surface of the element.
thanks

Re: Kettle Elements For 100L Pot
You won't have any issues with the elements affecting the wort at all. Only issue I had was when I tried to use hop pellets. Only tried them once, but they disintegrated and coated my elements, causing them to overheat. No problems with whole hops, though.
Where are you getting the elements and stock pots from?

I've put a link in the equipment part of the forum to where I got the pots from. I was hoping somebody could tell me a good element to get and where I could get it from.

So, you're not putting a volume control on these, you're just doing a full 3KW to maintain the boil? That sounds great! Nice and cheap.wilfy1970 wrote: 1) Would 2 X 3KW elements be up to the job, using both to turbo heat the wort and then going down to one for a controlled rolling boil.
North Americans are always using PIDs and computers to control kettle elements on the rare occasions that they use them.

argos value kettle ellements do the job well at 2.4kw. no control needed.
