Post-boil top up

Post by JamesH » Tue Jul 27, 2010 1:15 pm

Hello,

I have a slight issue with my brewlengths caused by not having any volume markers on my Burco. I have been topping up the boil with between 4 and 8 litres. However, the final brewlength is never spot on the target (4 gallons).

As a simple solution, could I just let the wort boil, cool, add to the FV, then simply top it up to 4 gallons with preboiled water?

Thanks,

James.

Nothing wrong with topping up if you feel the need to get exactly 4 gallons.
Why not make yourself a dipstick for the Burco and find out how much water you need to start out with?

Yes I did have a dipstick but, with different amounts of hops and hopbags in each brew, the levels are always slightly out. Think I'll just top up post boil next time.
