Hi Guys,
After many successful brews using generic dried yeast I thought I'd take the plunge and venture into the world of liquid yeasts. I have in mind a Timmy Taylor Landlord clone as per GW - any suggestions or recommendations as to which yeast I should use?
Cheers!
Which yeast to use?
Re: Which yeast to use?
If you wait until October then Wyeast is releasing WY-1469 West Yorkshire Ale which is apparently the Tim Taylors yeast. It's a yeast that they put out every so often as a special. I used the last time it was out and it's a really good, true top cropping strain.
If you can't wait then use the Ringwood ale.

I`ve used Whitelabs WLP005 a few times with good results.
Re: Which yeast to use?
Brewlab do a 'Yorkshire' yeast, which I recently did a Landlord clone of. Haven't tried it yet though, but will post my findings. Also, try emailing Brewlab and ask if they have anything similar to TT yeast... they probably have it in their banks and will be willing to give you some.
Re: Which yeast to use?
I made a very nice TT LL clone (with the equivalent of) Wy1469, but since it's only a seasonal release you could try Wy1187.
But I'd also email Brewlab (info@brewlab.co.uk) and ask what they have that is most appropriate, since I'm sure they'd have something for you.
Looking at the recipe, I'd suggest replacing the black malt with either (to about 3%) Weyermann Caraaroma (which is what I used) or Carabohemian, while it's not how TT do it, they both add a nice touch of colour/flavour that well emulates what TT manage to do with what is apparently a 100% pale malt bill.
