Hi there
i have just finised off my last bottle of Pils Which was excellent. I lagered it at 1 degree for 6 weeks in the cornie, then bottled with sugar.
it was beautifully clear coming out the cornie into the bottles.
When I poured from the bottles after maturing, there was still a yeasty sediment form the secondary fermentaion in the bottles, which obviously affected the clarity when poured to fast or by someone not in the know.
My question is Can i get a fizzy pils in the bottle without sediment from the secondary fermentaion?
Cheers
Chris
Clear lager in bottles without yeast
Re: Clear lager in bottles without yeast
You'd need to filter and bottle the beer using a counter pressure filler from a pressurized container (like a corny keg). It's possible, but a bit of work, and you need to get/make the counter-pressure filler too. Some people have success in transferring very cold beer into sterile cold bottles without losing too much gas or beer in the process.
You could always serve direct from the force-carbonated keg, but you'd most likely want to cool it that way so we're into the realms of the kegerator here.

Alternative to what coatesg suggested you could get a beer gun.
Expensive but they do the job very neatly I think.

Definitely recommend the beer gun, if your planning on bottling a lot of beer, money WELL spent.
Re: Clear lager in bottles without yeast
Its by Blichmann (sp), its basically a gun on a tube you attatch to your cornie outpost, you stick the long stick of the fun into the bottom of a bottle, and pull the trigger which releases beer to whatever psi you have your reg set to.
Re: Clear lager in bottles without yeast
Do you need the accessories for the beer gun? Or can you join the 3/16 tube to the gun with a john guest fittings? As I have a spare ball-lock post and adaptors the £17 for accessory kit on top seems STEEP!
