Autumn beer ideas?

Post by dedken » Tue Aug 24, 2010 1:26 pm

Hi all,

I'd like to brew an autumn beer along the lines of Fuller's Red Fox for AG#3. I have GW's BYOBRA but none of the recipes immediately stick out as being the sort of beer I want to brew next - anyone have a good recipe or two??

Cheers in advance

I've just brewed GW's HSB as my Autumn suppin' ale, I have a keg of ditches stout which I'll be repeating for sure for this Autumn. For Autumn Ale I assume you want something with an autumn colour. I'm going trad British hops come the colder months, hence HSB. I think I may do an Old Thumper too. Goldings, mmmm!
I suppose a Theakstons OP may be needed for the late Autumn/early winter too.

I don't generally go for HSB but I suppose sometimes you don't realise how good something is until you make it yourself! Old Thumper is a good one though - might go in for a bit of that alright.

My next two brews are an Irish Red and a variant on my stock Best Bitter.
The Red is very Autumnal!
