Wow!

So today im brewing my AG#2 which is the SNPA clone from mysterio via TheMaltMiller which i also got a nice new mash tun.

While waiting for the mash i got a trial sample of AG#1 from the FV which has been fermenting for 7 days to check its gravity, its the GW Timothy Taylor Landlord clone using the BIAB method.
So once the reading was taken i had to sample it, its the only time i have ever finished what was in the sample jar, absolutley delicious, almost crystal clear, carnt wait(which im going to have to...) to get it kegged and conditioned :D

Cannot believe the difference between AG and extract/kit, usually the trial sample has only been an indiactor and not really drinkable.
If this improves as much as kit/extract brews, holy cow

Sounds great.

I'm giving my first AG brew a go after christmas (when i get book a few hours in the kitchen without interuption).

Just doing a basic bitter to start with to get my bearings, but looking forward to seeing how much the AG differs from kit in taste.

good idea to start with a basic bitter, keep it simple and build up from there..the difference between kits and ag? well, you'll find out

Welcome to the dark side!
If I had all the money I'd spent on brewing... I'd spend it on brewing!

It will or more, it's the best hobby in the world.
This weekend I've done 2 back to back tests with commercial beer simillar to a style I've brewed compaired to my brew.
Maybe I'm just used to my stuff but in both cases I'm convinced my beer is better than the commercial beer.

Oh and +2 on the hops

Yes you can't go back now
Precautionary tale: with kits and the associated use of sugars the sample can taste extremely sweet initially. When I did my first all grain I tasted the initial hydrometer sample before pitching the yeast and it didn't taste at all sweet compared to what I was used to. I feared that somehow the mash had "failed" or that the hydrometer was giving a false reading, so as a panic measure I whacked in a kilo of dextrose.
I didn't realise at the time that in the mash, the starches are mostly converted to maltose which does not taste anywhere near so sweet as cane sugar etc.

Buddy came round for the first tasting session and it was so beautiful (Yorkshire bitter a bit like yours) we had four pints each in about an hour and eventually were just about crawling around "Why did Princess Di have to die, oh the humanity waaah waah"

Let the hydrometer be your friend =D>

Glad you said that, I like to have a little taster of the initial sample as I'm getting ready to add the yeast so that will be interesting to see the difference in sweeteness.

There will be sweetness, but be aware that after boiling with hops the wort becomes known as "bitter wort" and compared to kits you might find it a little different
Dont worry if it tastes like rancid earwax at this stage, all will become clear after fermentation
