New boiler and need help re tap

Post by Underthethumb » Wed Feb 23, 2011 12:38 am

Hi,

just acquired a Burco C30STHF boiler. Had intended to replace the tap with a lever ball valve connected to a hop strainer made from copper pipe.

However, on removing the tap I found the hole is not round. So as plan B I thought I would replace the 1" nut on the inside with a coupler which would lock the original tap in place and allow me to insert a 22mm copper pipe which I will drill holes into for a hop filter.

I can only find one such coupler which I have linked below. As it is described as iron, would it be food safe?

Thanks for your thoughts. :?

Hi

I have to say that it looks to me to be made of brass not iron, iron sometimes is used to describe pipe not the material that the pipe is made of perhaps a trip in to wickes would be a good idea that way you could inspect the fitting to see what material the fitting is made of the fitting shown in the pic may not be the actual fitting you are buying

Denis

Spot on! In wickes now and it is clearly copper. Cheers.
