Irish moss in a wheat beer
Irish moss in a wheat beer
I am brewing my first wheat beer at the weekend. A Schneiderweisse clone. Now a wheat beer is supposed to be cloudy obviously. The cloudiness comes from the yeast obviously so no fining's when kegging. But does this extend to the use of fining's at the end of the boil?
Re: Irish moss in a wheat beer
The cloudiness comes from a combination of both the yeast and the higher protein that is present in the wheat when used in higher proportions. I have just brewed a Weizenbock and didn't bother with any finings at all because the style is naturally hazy.
