Got a mash on at the moment (GW's Hydes Dark Mild), just checked the thermometer at the half way point and it says 71C...!
WTF?! Bearing in mind it must have started off higher than that, have I even managed to kill the alpha amylase in my mash? I checked brix, which is a whopping great 4, so equivalent to 1.012 in a 10l mash, after 45 minutes?!
