I am keen to try recreating old style beers as in "Old British Beers" as described in the Durden Park Beer Circle book.
One of the steps after mashing at 66 degrees C is to raise this to 77 degrees C. I know I can keep adding very hot water until that temperature is achieved, but how do I calculate the approximate volume/ temperature required to do this? In my mash tun I should have around 5.8 kg of malted barley and 19 litres of water in my cool box mash tun.
I suspect this is very straightforward but it's beyond me!

Re: Raising the mash temperature
Thanks for that. I should really have found these calculators myself. Sorry I'm so thick!
Re: Raising the mash temperature
No worries!
I tired a few before I found one I like (the one I suggested) no harm in asking for a recommendation as there are many of this type of thing out there in cyberworld...
Cheers!
