Forgot the Copper Finings for me Lager...

Post by fego » Tue Mar 27, 2012 10:45 pm

I finally got round to doing the lager this w/e.

Apart from the sparge arm blocking up which delayed me for an hour, everything went really well. However, I woke up startled at 3am this morn realising that I forgot to add the protfloc. I went to the trouble of breaking it in half and leaving it in a handy place, but I comletely forgot to bung it in. I've never done this before so don't know what the effects might be and as it's a lager with 3 months of waiting, I'd rather chuck it away and start again if it's gonna be a major flaw.

So, what can I expect? Is it a big issue...?

Expect some chill / protein haze but it's only really cosmetic. The beer should taste fine. Don't throw it away! :D

Cheers PG.
Always valued your advice. Glad to see you active on here. Any sign of Drew or SD yet?

SD seems to have been busy for some time now but crops up everynow and again. Not sure about Drew. It would be a shame to lose his advice from the forums though.

Since the topic says lager I will assume that you'll be putting this batch in a cooler for several weeks. Most beer will drop clear given enough time; being cold helps. You shold be fine.
I'm just here for the beer.
