Is this too lazy.....
Is this too lazy.....
Brewed last weekend and made a cracking smelling (and tastes OK from the little Ive tried while checking gravity) Hop Monster. I have a barrel that is just about finished that had a Summer Lightning ale in which will be empty by the time the new brew is ready to keg - lovely brew that just got better as it got older. Is it okay to just rinse out the barrel with clean cold water then use for the new brew or do I have to go through a whole cleaning process for the barrel before putting the new brew in?
Re: Is this too lazy.....
I would say it might be all right, probably be all right even, but why would you want to take a chance? What if you took a chance and it spoiled...how would you feel?
You've already mentioned it's smelling good... go on, give it a proper clean and don't take a chance!

Re: Is this too lazy.....
Well thats 1-0 to a good clean out lol. I see your point though oz, be a shame to waste 5 hours brewing and 10 days fermenting.

Re: Is this too lazy.....
Just out of interest oz, how's your TT Landlord? Be interested in doing one of those, is it out of the GW book?
Re: Is this too lazy.....
It is indeed from the book but I found the recipe here.
It's a good beer and my drinking buddies seem to like it. The late Styrian addition probably doesn't come through like proper Landlord, but I had expected that given that I used Fuller's yeast. I would brew the same again but if you want more of a Landlord clone I'd use a different yeast, Nottingham maybe? Or go the extra yard and try a liquid strain or a Brewlabs slant maybe?
Hope this helps
Cheers!

Re: Is this too lazy.....
Just spit in the keg, stick your lovingly crafted beer in it and then top it off with a few used tissues or maybe some soil from the garden. It will be fine...
...if you're a nutter!...
(maybe best to clean and sanitise it properly, you lazy git)
