Very Bitter Bitter...

Firstly hello, Conducted my first all-grain brew two weekends ago using a American pale ale kit. All went well and I moved to secondary and then racked to mini kegs.
Only problem is how bitter it is. Could this be down to low fermentation temps or is it just a bit green??

Also forgot to say that my mash temperature was low.

2 weeks is a little soon to be drawing conclusions, give it a while to condition first. Fermenting temp shouldn't affect the bitterness.
APA's do tend to be on the hoppy side though (yum yum :D )

How low? A higher mash temp will result in more unfermentable sugars and thus a sweeter beer.
You still need to leave it a while though.

Now that is a pointer. This will have the opposite of what Keith said. More fermentables (though it is on the margin of being too low) will give a lighter bodied beer which will alow a greater prominence of the bittering elements as they don't have the sweetness to blance them. The other factor of course is that APA's are designed to be bitter.

Could you give us your hop schedule, that will be where yor bitterness is coming from.

On the other hand it will mellow out considerably with time

Give it longer. I've had beers so bitter it's undrinkable after 2 weeks but pure silk after 4 :)

Thanks for all your replies chaps, I really hope it improves and will pin my mash temp next time. There was no hop schedule as they were all in little bags with 60mins to 0mins.

some of the high alpha american hops can give a very harsh bitterness
