Please don’t bark at me on this I know it’s a controversial subject.
Being a tinkerer I have been considering building a 1u filter and pump into my setup. I am thinking of transferring from the FV (14 days+) to the bottling bucket through the filter. Then adding a small amount (1 million per mill???) of a good bottling yeast (yet to be researched) and corn sugar with the aim of reproducing the fine white layer you get on commercial bottle conditioned beers.
Just wondered if anyone had played with anything similar? I think it’s more common to do it in the US and yes… I know the drawbacks and all the arguments against doing it so please save your fingers ;o)

You'll probably need a pre-filter otherwise your 1micron will just clog.

I get a very very fine amount of sediment, in the bottom of bottles.
What you need to do, is replicate the brewery conditioned beers.
1) Ferment as normal , Chill for about 3 days at 1C
2) transfer to keg and prime
3) Wait until keg drops clear
4) Bottle from the keg (I put into a bottling bucket, and use a rod)
4) Bottle, using a very small amount (If any) corn sugar
5) Leave in warm place for a couple of weeks

I've done similar, using finings rather than filtration, with very good results. I reckon you can actually get away with as little as 0.5 million cells / ml. S04 works pretty well as a bottling yeast.

The idea of natural "time" filtering does appeal somewhat and is a real possible if I cannot find the parts to build something on the cheap(ish). The superjet is simply a no go on the principle of its just not worth it (to me).

I have to admit I do like the idea of keeping it in a pressure barrel or KK for 4 weeks or so to drop out then bottling. I need to see how cheaply I can build the above really though as its the sort of thing that's handy to have.

Ritchies' Kwik Clear 2-part beer and wine finings will drop out practically all of the yeast in just a couple of days.

Cheers Dunc, I hadn't seen that particular brand before (guessing because its aimed at wine)
Ill obtain some and try it on my next batch... with a reseed I am guessing?

Looking at all options I have found the double filter part can be kitted out for under 30 pounds. I some how suspect I am not going to find a pump and bring this in at a sub 50-60 project unfortunately.

Right... forget the pump / filter option I simply cannot be bothered with it, too much risk for so little reward.
I think that for me putting into a barrel is a bit much for this step. Thinking for going for...
1)14 days in primary at 18-21 (I step up)
2)Cold crash for 7 days
3)Use two part kwick clear towards the end of the crash cooling.
4)Rack to bottling bucket.
5)Prime and maybe add small amount of yeast.
6)bottle.
Ill see how that goes and report back in a month or so...

It was an apology in case their first language was English and I assumed it wasn't because of their odd word usage and grammar.
