Making my own wort

Post by mrfdes » Sun Jun 10, 2012 5:37 pm

Hello,
for the sake of experimenting, I would like to know how I go about making my own wort (I am, of course, a home brewer), let's say, for an ordinary lager, and when I manage to do that, how I go further to turn it into beer.

I know i am not giving much information, but, as I say, I am only a hobbyist, and, rather than using home brewing kits all the time, I would rather mix it all myself, so that I can then, as my experience grows, mix together a beer that I can call my own.

I used lager as an example, to give the experts who might be able to help me some general idea, although, if anyone thinks there is a way of doing things in a less complicated way for a beginner, please feel free to tell me.

All help will be very much appreciated.

Those are the links I used when I went from kits to all grain. 42 AG brews so far.

Aye, aswell this is certainly worth a read.
Its worth mentioning that you should look at some of the brew days that have been done. From what I have read, I would avoid lager to start with because it isn't all that easy. I would either got fora simple recipe, or a SMASH (single malt, single hop), I did black sheep best bitter and you can follow the link in my sig. Its quite a pic heavy post and it should help you see the whole process required, their are better ones but I haven't got links for them :)
If you do decide to the whole hog, do a brewday thread as if you encounter any problems, the lads will likely be able to give you a hand on the fly!
