Bit late...

they look ok. columbus is a lovely hop.
That said i think that you are a little ott on the ibu against the Og. you are at 1:1 right now. I would have dropped it to around .6-.7:1 personally but thats just me.

Looks nice, although I think you'll lose a lot of flavouring with such a long boil time on the first lot of columbus, if its there purely for bittering purposes then that makes sense but otherwise, I'd personally want to add a bit at the 15minute mark to get some taste out of them and to match the columbus (dry hopping?) at the end.
Looks nice though :) let us know how you get on

I like a bitter beer, the last APA I did I cocked up on the hops and added the 10 minute hops with the bittering hops by accident, so I just upped the flameout hops to compensate and it was fantastic.

Thanks for the advice though, do you think you could explain this "you are at 1:1 right now. I would have dropped it to around .6-.7:1 personally but thats just me" I don't go in for all the calculations that some of you might, but I am becoming more interested. I use beer engine to formulate my recipes, I know what ibu's I like so I just whack it in and get on with it. I have never had a bad beer so I must be doing something right.[-o<

Yes I just wanted to use them for bittering, never used them before so I thought I would add them for bittering and at flameout with some cascade to see how it turned out, like I said just a stab in the dark, I will keep you posted on the outcome.

Cheers

yes. basically you have a ration of 1:! ( gravity points and IBU) you have 1049 and 49 IBU so 1:1

If you multiply49 49 by .6 it gives 29,4 ibu which is what i would have aimed at roughly. it does all depend on beer style and also personal preference.

does that make sense?

Yep got it, thanks for that I will bear that in mind when creating different beer styles in the future.

Thanks again.

Just had a taste of the above, fantastic flavour, nice balance, probably one of my best using the C hops. I will definitely be doing this one again, I can't wait till it's conditioned properly, should be an excellent summer beer.
