nelson sauvin hops and kipling

Post by Deebee » Fri Sep 07, 2012 6:38 pm

Gents.
I have started this thread due to the kipling thread being really full and i don't think i'll get a reply.
I brewed the "brewers recipe" from thw thread on the forums and added hops to the right ibu at the right stages. I have just tasted and prepared the dry hops and am getting a massive grapefruit hit.
I have added 50g ns to the fermenter. So sround 2g per litre.
Thing is the brew my mate did smelt and tasted almost white wine. He tells me he used the same hops but ubless i have an infection or have used the wrong hops k am way off the mark and where i had hoped to be.
Whats the thoughts.?

Nelson sauvin does have white wine flavour, but I also get peaches and apricots.

Added late in the boil, it does add a little sweetness to the beer. Its excellent as a dry hop as well. Very tropical fruit like

I'm sorry, I'm with your mate. NS is awful, overpowering and that white wine taste should be no where near beer.
It's not citrus like cascade or amarillo, it's more acidic.

As has been said, different folks....
