Saaz and Pilgrim together?

Post by TheSheeprug » Sat Sep 29, 2012 5:20 pm

Hi All,

I may get a chance to do a brew tomorrow, and looking through my hop drawer I find some Target, Pilgrim and an unopened bag of Saaz - which has been there for a while and I'd rather like to use. Would a combination of Pilgrim and Saaz work? I'm thinking of like:

25L
Pilgrim 25g 90 mins
Saaz 60g , 10 mins.
IBU 38

Pale malt 4000
Crystal 200g
Munich 200g
Torr Wheat 100g
OG 1043

Looks to me like it would be a good one, go for it.
I'm just here for the beer.

Thanks Rookie,

Brewed yesterday, but upped the gravity slightly with the hope it will mature for Xmas.

25L
Pilgrim 25g 90 mins
Saaz 60g , 10 mins.
IBU 38

Pale malt 5500
Crystal (dark) 240g
Munich 200g
Torr Wheat 200g
OG 1059
FG 1024

Didn't quite hit the efficiency this time tho'. OG was 1056 - near enough.

Fermenting as I write with Safeale S04, re-pitched from the Guinness type clone I made last Sunday.

I am enjoying getting back into this brewing lark. It's like having your own beer festival!

Oops - typo. FG should be 1014.
