Hi, need some help please...
I lent an empty cornie to a friend who wanted to give them ago some time ago, he dropped the full keg off round ours at the weekend Wow, I thought that's kama! (wasn't expecting a full keg) he said along the lines of "I'm slowing down drinking and already got a lot of homebrew so here you go, you might as well have it". I think it's a youngs kit although he made reference about a mash tun but I'm sure its more likely to be kit beer. Anyway I left it to settle down over the weekend. I'm not 100% sure of what it is or at what stage its at, or even how long its been in the FV and then into the keg, although I was told it's about ready to drink, so tonight (Monday) after storing it in a warm place for a few hours then moving to the pantrey over the weekend, I thought I'd give it ago. I first tried the party tap I have, and couldn't get anything out bar a small trickle, so I then tried the hand pump and again I couldn't get anything out, but the smallest bit of foam, I don't think it's dry hopped (which then could block the dip tube if free floating hops compact which I've done before) so I then tried the release valve to see what that did, to my surprise (I wasn't expecting any preasure) I let off a lot of gas/preasure, I'm not sure how much priming sugar has been used, or at what stage the keg was filled. After releasing the presure though, I still couldn't get anything out the keg. Do I need to keep venting and let it settle out over a number of days before trying again, or do I need to rack off and start again? I need to speak to my friend to find out what's been done so far don't I? I suspose worse case I could leave it awhile if still fermenting then rack into bottles?
Any advice most welcome
Thank sAndy
not again can't get beer out of cornie with handpump
Re: not again can't get beer out of cornie with handpump
If you push in the centre of the "out" post does the beer spurt out? If not I suggest the dip tube is blocked. Perhaps you could attach CO2 to the "out" connection and blow it through?
Re: not again can't get beer out of cornie with handpump
Noot tried to push the centre wit hout the disconnect been connected biut there is pressure there and wuld have thought with a hand pump it would pull it through Unfortuantly I don't have any co2 I have the nottles and regs but the gas is empty and n ot found anywhere local to fill it up with our subscriptions.I think will leave it for a few weeks I have a diploma exam coming up on 18/10/12 so will look to re rack after then
