You said crushed grain, which goes stale very quickly. Hopefully you brew often enough to move through your stock fairly quickly? Otherwise, I'd recommend putting a grainmill on your Christmas wish list so you can store uncrushed malt instead which is more shelf-stable.

Crushed grain will keep just fine for 6 to 12 months if you keep it cool and dry (and away from rodents).
The darker grains will keep even longer.
