Dry hop this recipe or not?

Post by wetpoke » Sun Feb 24, 2013 6:57 pm

I did a bit of a user-upper as follows last weekend, almost entirely based on what I had left pending new supplies. I missed about 50g of Cascade pellets in my stocktake. Should I just bung them in to the fv (this being my preferred dry hop method)or will this mask the late chinook/Amarillo additions?

5kg Marris Otter
500g Torrified Wheat
500g Caramalt

28l in fermenter at 1.048 og

60 min boil

20g Calypso 60 min
20g chinook and 20g Amarillo 15 min
20g chinook and 30g Amarillo 0 min

Nottingham yeast

My advice would be, at the end of fermentation, wait for the beer to clear (so theres no yeast in suspension) and have a taste. Does it need pepping up? If so bung em in.

Could do both, just transfer half out at the end of fermentation and the nput the hops in and leave it for a few days then bottle the rest
