hi all, going to get a brew on this sat to be ready for easter, was going to try this for an 80 litre batch.
15 kg of maris otter malt from fawcetts.
100g of cascade at start of boil.
200g of cascade 5 mins from end of boil.
200g of cascade at end of boil.
ferment with yeast from local micro.
aiming for about 4% abv.
how does that sound for a golden hoppy summer ale, any advice/tips welcome.
cheers Neil

Re: summer ale
How does a very pale ale taste with Cascade hops...that's really what you're asking us? I think you already know the answer.
Happy Easter, Neil!

Re: summer ale
Sounds great to me, my first love with US hops was Cascade. I'm not convinced about additions at switch off as I think it is too hot and volatises the essential oils you are after for aroma. I would leave that addition until the wort is at < 80c and consider dry hopping later on in the fermentor. Boom: cascades of loveliness.
