Unknown Belgian beer?

Post by wilfh » Sun Apr 14, 2013 4:39 pm

Can anyone help me with this request. I've been asked to make something like a "denhartrg" which is apparently a Belgian beer. An Internet search draws a blank. I guess the spelling is out. It's supposed to have a yellow label with a king holding a beer.
Any ideas as I won't be able to ask the person making The request for some time.

Wow, that's quite a puzzle. Two remote possibilities come to my mind. Den Haag is a well-renowned Belgian brewer. Or, Ramses Bier is a brewery in the Netherlands (not Belgian, but close) with a logo which is a yellow outline of a king (pharoah?) holding out a beer goblet. No idea if either of those are correct, though, nor which of their beers to clone!

Hi Wilfh,
I think there's a typo: perhaps 'den hartog' or 'den hertoog' which means 'the duke'. Is it possibly 'Hertog Jan' from The Netherlands? That has a picture of a king holding a 'stein' of beer. Check out the picture here http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/hertog-jan ... tige/5305/

Hertog Jan looks to be a good call from the label

Also, I'm really rather fond of their seasonal bock.

Hi guys
Thanks for the replies and the detective work. The power of the Internet. Just need to give my brother in law some grief. He's Dutch so should know how to spell it ( assuming of course that this is what he meant)
Cheers
Wilf
