Flaked wheat substitute?

Brewing a Hoegaarden clone this weekend which calls for Flaked wheat but
my usual supplier is out of stock is there a good substitute for it

Hi

Have you tried looking in healthfood shops? They normally have a good range of flaked products. They might be a tad more expensive but it's worth a look.

I used flaked dinkel (spelt) as a substitute in my Bateman's Dark Mild recipe as I too was unable to get hold of flaked wheat. I don't think there's a great flavour difference to be honest.

Thanks fuggled I will have a look also going to order torrified wheat in case I cant find it

looks like torrified has been used successfully as a substitute in this thread viewtopic.php?f=10&t=48484

You can safely use raw unmalted wheat for witbier. It would be much better than torrefied.

Thanks for the replies, been to the nearest health food shop but no luck there,
so have ordered unmalted wheat instead.
