Cherry Beer info?

Post by ArmChair » Tue Jul 23, 2013 1:23 am

Behind my house is a public park, which just happens to have around a dozen cherry trees.
The other day, this got me thinking about a cherry beer, like a kireck.

My questions are:

How many kg of cherries would I need for a 20liter batch?
Do I Pitt the cherries then freeze them for a few days?
Do I just add the cherries to the boiling stage of the brew?

Thanks in advance guys!

If they're normal eating cherries you'd have to think hard about it, reason being when a normal cherry, as opposed to a kriek, is fermented then it can taste rather artificial and medicinal, so do a small batch first as a tester before you blow a lot of time and money on making something unpleasant that you can't drink.
