Question on Hot Break

Post by phill71 » Sun Oct 06, 2013 5:49 pm

I've always hovered over my simmering brew, diligently skimming off the hot break 'crust' and flicking out the garage door and usually all over the dogs back, who seems to enjoy lapping it up off the grass :?

It's just occured to me however, that the hot break and all its crud might well be beneficial to the overall process and should I just put the spoon down, sit back and let things be?

Yep, just let it be. Not sure it's beneficial but it doesn't do any harm and just ends up with the hops when you drain the boiler.

Some say it aids head retention too, but I say 'do commercial breweries remove it?' course not....
