Black Diamond Ale

Post by oldtimer » Mon Sep 30, 2013 7:56 pm

Not sure if this the right place to ask this question, but here goes.

I recently visited Anglesey, North Wales. ( well somebody has to ).
Whilst there I was taken to a pub that was serving a guest beer going by the name of ' Black Diamond '. As the name suggests it was a dark ale and boy was it nice !!!!! I had to try many several, just to make sure.
I asked the barmaid who brewed it. You would think I asked her what Einstein's theory of relativity was cos she looked at me gone out. Clearly the lights were on, but there was nobody at home. I asked her if she could ask someone who might know, but to cut a long story short, I got nowhere.

So , Has anyone else come across this ale and if so, who brews it? I would like to fang hold of the recipe, Can anyone help please :?: :?:

might need more information than that. there's a few with that name.. was it a local one? was there a pump clip to confirm a picture? Banks (Marston) might be a fair bet if it's not a smaller local brewery..
dazzled, doused in gin..

It's brewed by Banks's Brewery in Wolverhampton. From their website....

9 January 2013 to 30 September 2013
Black Diamond is quite a conundrum. Dark in colour, yet light in palate, rich yet refreshing, the looks of a Stout, but very much a Bitter, hints of dark malt, but with a blast of aromatic hops.

Seeing isn't believing - but tasting is!!

2.2 Units per 568ml pint

Style: Deep Hoppy Ale
ABV: 4.0%
See: Deep brown with reddish glints
Smell: Citrus, soft fruit, hints of hazelnut
Taste: Freshly hoppy with lemon & grapefruit prominent, and a crisp deep bitter finish
Bitter: 4.5
Sweet: 2.5

Had some of this in my local a few weeks ago. An excellent pint, the best guest ale they've had, imo!
Very hoppy but light and clean in the mouth, nothing like it looks :)
