Russian imperial stout from extract?

Hi fellas.
I'm gonna get an IRS on the go to save until Xmas for supping.
I've been given an extract kit for 40 pints of mild and wondered about using this as a base?
I had the idea of making the whole kit up to 16 pints using water, some of which (a couple of pints or so) having had dark unmalted grains soaking in them for a day or so, before then chucking in a good measure of muscovado as well as some hops in a boil.
Thoughts?

You might be better off posting this in the extract section of the forum? My own IRS was made to 18 ltr which was on the limit of what my 27 ltr mash tun could take (fly sparging). It came out at 11% and even 15 months later it still needs some more time. To brew a proper IRS you may have missed the boat if you want to drink it this Christmas. Sorry not to be more help.

iknow some of them in the kits section use the coopers stout and then a couple other kits as well all together.

aparently it turns out well. Am almost tempted to try it as the imperials do use a lot of malt.
