Help... Fermentation Fridge / idea's

Post by ArmChair » Sat Sep 20, 2014 2:45 pm

Earlier in the month I purchased a fridge freezer on the bay. This fridge freezer did mention in the listing that the freezer section was temperamental. But for £10.11 it was worth a pint.

Today I wired up my STC1000, added the heater and the prove via the drain off pipe at the rear then tested it.
It seems that I can't get the cooling side of the fridge to work. I googled the model number and got the service manual. It seems the fridge cooling is driven by the fan / cooling unit in the freezer. So this is a no go.

Now I problem is, I still want to use the fridge freezer and a fermenting chamber with temperature control.
Is there any unit / cooling / cooling fan that I can buy at a reasonable price and install in the fridge? I would assume it would need to be 240v as that's what the STC1000 is.

Any help would be appreciated

Hi, i was recently given a fridge/freezer that was not working because a circuit board had blown, diconnected all the electronic components and wired directly to the compressor along with the wires from the fan plgged in to my stc1000 and away it went, simple job took about 30 mins max, if you know the refrigeration side of it works i think you could do the same.
