Forgot Torrified Wheat
Forgot Torrified Wheat
So I forgot to get torrified wheat for a Black Sheep Best recipe I got from the CAMRA book. I'm just going to press on, but should I expect anything other loss of head retention?

Re: Forgot Torrified Wheat
Have you brewed it yet? You could always sub the torrified wheat with another wheat product e.g. malted wheat or flaked wheat. The flavour might be slightly different but it will still be good beer with typical wheat characteristics such as improved head retention. Graham mentions in the book that it's possible to use different adjuncts with small differences in taste.
I have to admit though that I have no access to torrified wheat so use malted wheat or flaked wheat in recipies where it's specified.
Cheers

Hi Jason,
I'm mashing now without any wheat. Let's see how it goes. I'm sure it'll taste good

I've used plain ol' domestic flour (max 200g) many times to good effect and with no problems/detriment whatsoever...
