How good can all grain get ?

There is a lot of truth in the above. Just to add...a commercial brewer has to make beer that will sell. Hence the proliferation of 3.6% pub bitters, most of which are fairly bland, to be polite. One of the reasons ales like Old Speckled Hen have been dumbed down in recent years (had their ABV lowered) is to make them more mainstream. They were "too strong"
As a home brewer you are not constrained by such nonsense, and your imagination is the limit.
I rarely make the same brew twice as I am a magpie when it comes to styles and strengths etc. A commercial brewer has to make something the punters will choose over all the other options on the bar, and then make that the same brew every time. That is very hard to do, hence a lot of micro-brewers go bust.

Well am on my 3rd all grain now after kits for years wish I had started all grain years ago just drinking my first Guinness all grain it the best I ever brewed am looking forward to trying my ipa now which will be ready in the new year so yes all grain all the way

You remind me of when I changed from kits to AG, the difference is tremendous and well worth the extra investment in equipment.

Now there's a whole new subject to learn about and fascinating it is too!
If you're not treating your water yet, have a look into that, I found it baffling but made simple by sending a sample of my water to Murphy's and sons, getting it analysed and they'll tell you what to put into it! Simple!!
Makes a difference too!
