Sorachi Ace

Post by windrider » Thu Apr 28, 2016 3:35 pm

Just ordered some Sorachi Ace and wondering how best to use it. Read it can be quite potent if not used properly. I had a beer recently at a festival made with it and quite enjoyed it.

Was thinking of something like the below. But not sure if I should add it to the kettle as a late addition or leave it as a dry hop?

Was thinking that the Amarillo would pair nicely with it. Going to be brewing this for my bday party in June :)

Not brewed with SA yet although keen so following this one. One observation though: I'd bump up the dry hop amount. Maybe double it? Or is that because you're being cautious?

Check Brooklyn's Sorachi Ace or even Adnams/M&S Sorachi Saison. Lovely distinctive flavour. I always get strong citrus and dill which I love. Can instantly spot SA in other beers now.

Yep trying to keep the Sorachi minimal. Heard it can’t be quite potent if not used cautiously. Just not sure whether to skip the Sorachi dry hop and add it at flame out.
Need to make this balanced and less hop-focused so trying to restrain myself on the hops :D
