Oxygen

Post by lord.president » Thu Jan 12, 2017 10:09 pm

Hi all. I've been looking at getting some oxygen to brew an impy for Christmas. I've come across some 'sports oxygen' on Amazon. Has anybody used these? Or am l off to Toolstation for some Hobbyweld?

TIA

Sports oxygen is usually massively expensive compared to the welding oxygen, and usually from the same source. I can see 15 litres of sports oxygen at £20 compared to £24 for a disposable welding oxygen can that has 110 litres.

You still then need a regulator and diffusion stone. See the thread mentioned above for a full build guide.
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.

Welding oxygen like suggested by orlando is the way to go. I'll only add that you should get an air stone wand (air stone on a length of pipe). It makes aerating hustle free.

If you have a conical Lardy can supply a triclamp adapted airstone to fix to the dump valve, allowing oxygen to be bubbled through the whole wort.
