Thanks for all the tips. It's fermenting away nicely now. Good big head and lots of bubbling from the airlock.
Lets hope it lasts!

Great stuff Jymbo.
That's looking so packed with flavour!
Excellent pics too. Kudos to your improvised sparge set up. 8)

Update:

Racked to secondary on Saturday after 5 days.

Target OG 1052-56, Actual: 1052
Target FG 1012-1016, Actual 1014

Target length:19L, Actual: 18L

Pretty happy with this for the first AG brew, plus I had a taste from the hydro jar and it's very good! Plan to bottle this Thursday as I'm away on a stag do at the weekend.

Great work Jymbo, really enjoyed those pics 8)

The hardest part's yet to come - leaving it alone 'til it's ready :(

How did your porter turn out Jymbo? Been thinking of trying this recipe myself.

Delicious - it actually tastes very like St Peter's Old Style Porter, the stuff that comes in the medicine shaped bottle, and it's pretty similar to Anchor Porter too.

I would definitely reccommend giving it a try.
