Picked up my larder fridge of freecycle last weekend - what a great idea - thanks garwatts.

Where do most people drill the holes for the air line(s) [through the back, the sides - top or bottom]? Or do some put the gas cylinder inside the fridge too? I'm assuming I’ll also need some sort of grommets to plug the holes too. I'm possibly thinking of getting a gas distribution board with a few take-offs - and placing that inside the fridge if it will fit, so I only have to drill once through the outer casing. Would that be OK or should I keep the board outside of the fridge and drill multiple times (for different gases and pressures)...

Thanks, Gaz.

If you use 3/16 line for the gas in and beer out, you can get quite a few lines through one hole!

When you're figuring out where to drill, turn the fridge on full for a while and feel for cold spots - then don't drill near them! Once you've figured out where to drill, run the drill through the inside (or outside) only, then with a skewer have a poke around to feel what's under it.....if it just feels like insulation, then you're fine to go all the way through. Ifit feels solid, then try somewhere else!

I never thought of using 3/16 gauge for gas lines! Good idea & thanks for the other advice too.

Would these be the type of grommets i'd need?

:D :D

It makes life much easier! You can bend them wherever you want. It's just that the fittings are normally 3/8, so most people just use 3/8 tube.

I had a  moment when I was about to start drilling loads of holes in my keg fridge for lines - exactly the same issue as you....now I have one 10mm or so hole (10mm drill, wiggled around a bit!), with 2 gas in lines (2 separate pressures, with "T" splitters on each inside the fridge for 4 kegs total), 2 beer lines out, plus the temperature sensor lead for the ATC800. No need for a grommet as they are all nice and tightly packed.

I am not sure about temperature swings with fridges but i am only getting .2oc temperature swing at the begining of fermentation & 0 swing when fermentation is going like the clappers when using a Maxi cooler with a TC-10. :D
