Thanks for the link, I hadn't heard of Frappr before either. I've added myself now, there must be more people brewing in Kent for sure!
I recently joined CAMRA and went to a meeting hoping to find another craft brewer to talk brewing with, sadly everyone was just interested in drinking fine ale so I felt obliged to join in :-)

Pendle Witches Brew is on my short list for my first AG brew amoungst a few others so would appreciate your feedback as to how it turns out.
Well I have tried a few bottles now so I can let you know what I think.
My first taste was on bottling, now normally I find the beer tastes good at this stage but I was a bit worried as it was just not so good, I even wondered if I might have an infection but this proved not to be the case.

It's still conditioning at around 3 weeks in the bottle now, it's a good beer, a nice balanced flavour not excessively bitter, quite smooth. I felt the hop character is a little less than my personal preference (bit of a hop head I'm afraid) but it is a good brew that will not hang around for long :-)
As I like hoppier beers I doubt I will brew it again, the Deuchars IPA recipe is a real winner in my opinion and a candidate for another batch.

Thanks for remembering to reply! :D

Obviously a good beer but it all comes down to personal preference.

Deuchars IPA, I'll take another look at that one. Have you brewed Black Sheep Ale?

I haven't tried any of the Black Sheep ales yet, mostly because I cannot remember the taste and also I'm using my stash of hops which influences me quite a bit :)
I think they have their best bitter on at the pub I'm going to next month so I will be trying it out, along with a few others too :D

I'm trying to decide which recipe to brew for my first AG, I would prefer something that I've drunk in the past for comparison. I've got it down to a short-ish list of about six beers listed in Graham Wheelers BYOBRA. I've only tried Pendle Witches Brew the once at Maidstone Beer & Hop fest and Black Sheep Ale from the bottle so although good beers and both recipies having good reviews on here they are probably at the bottom of my list.

Then again, maybe I should go for Pendle Witches Brew as a single hop beer for the first one? Decisions, decisions... :?

My advice would be to go with something you have drunk too, taste is so subjective. Going for a single hop variety will keep the cost of the first brew down though they'll all get used in the end if you stick to the popular ones like fuggles, goldings, challenger etc.
My first recipe was from here, the Tribbs IPA, a mad strong IPA with a whole tub of Amarillo hop pellets, wonderful.
