Oh dear oh dear!.
The soddin' thermometer is a red herring. Trust me, my thermometer really is reading the right temp. I started using thermometers over 40 years ago as an industrial chemist. It is only a lunatic that has brought thermometers into the thread.

Now aeration comments are well placed. I have just upped from a 5 gall brewery to a 9/14 gall one and I have just done the second brew on it today and made sure lots of foam when running out of the copper and the temp. not too high.
I have also gone back to manufacturers foil packets of yeast. So, I know I have changed two things at once but hopefully I will have a less stressful week.

Thanks to all who have provided rational :D possible solutions.

With a response like this, it seems LESS likely that you'll get rational helpful solutions in the future. [-X
