My observations, technique are not much different to any other. The fineness of the grain and the strainer design are the 2 most common problems. i have got into a little routine. .......Once I have topped up and stirred after only a minute or so, I run off a litre of wort and add it back to the tun. This clears loose particles that may have made their way into my strainer (slotted copper) Once I start the main run off (slowly at first) if I have any doubts , I "scratch" the surface of the grain bed to allow the surface water to pass through, what can sometimes be, a fine slurry.

Have done 4 AG brews before today and all have resulted in stuck sparges. today i changed copper manifold for a braided filter and did not have any problems at all. Mick
