I was forced to drink a budweiser - the awful us version yesterday and I can see how the thinness of the beer helps crispness, I've been concentrating on getting malt flavour in and perhaps cutting back on that and only using carapils coupled and cutting back on later hopping might do the trick

like I mentioned earlier, sugar would help as would 10% of grist of either flaked rice or flaked maize.

I agree, but I'm worried sugar will eave a lack of body. The first lagers I brewed sometimes uffred from a slight thinness, which put me on the road to adding carapils ot caragold to try to get the sort of maltiness you find in the munich beers. Whilst I'd love to chuck some aromatic malt in a pale lager I'm thinking thats contrary to the aim of making it crisper, so in pursuit of crispness I'm not going to do that. Maize might work and if not overdone the flavour effect might be ok. I wonder about unmalted wheat, I'm partial to adding shredded wheat, that might be interesing

Unmalted wheat, Unmalted rice, Unmalted corn - I think the taste difference would be subtle, but all take away some of that heavy malt sweetness that should end up with a lighter CRISPER (scuse the shouting but no italics on a phone) beer.
Not a lager, but I made a lovely light blonde beer earlier this year with 20% flaked wheat.

Essentially I think most of the crispness is down to fermentation characteristics, but with with the same common denominators changing your malt bill has got to help IMHO

I think you're right, aim for a dry finish and thin the maltiness out as well. As amerikan bud I think use rice I shalln't on purely prejudicial grounds! maize or wheat it is

If you follow the logic of that goober running for the senate down south your body knows to shut down in that type of situation and you won't get drunk.
I'm just here for the beer.
